Jewelry Cleaners - Using the Right Jewelry Cleaner Makes All the Difference
It is best to think about diamond care when buying your jewelry. Ask the jeweller for advice on what jewelry cleaner to use, and how. Sometimes settings are very fine and require a little brushing, and sometimes you may be advised to just soak. It is also possible to buy jewelry cleaner as cloths, which you can gently wipe over your jewelry pieces.
Good jewelry cleaner will have detailed instructions for use. It will also advise on personal care, i.e., whether you should avoid it coming into contact with your hands.
There are alternatives to chemical jewelry cleaners. Ultrasonic cleaning has been promoted but it is definitely unsuitable for some stones because they are porous. So avoid this particularly with pearls and gem stones. Jewelry cleaner is also better where stones are slightly loose.
We perhaps forget that our jewelry gets dirty, even though we see it all the time. But over time diamonds can seem to lose some lustre, and look a little sad. A diamond is tough and durable and will look fabulous when cleaned with the right jewelry cleaner.

Jewelry Cleaners - Chemical or Natural Cleaners?
Traditionally, we were told by our grandmothers to soak our diamond rings in a soap and water solution. Using a small brush around the setting should remove any debris that might collect on a day to day basis.
These days there is a trend back towards old fashioned soap jewelry cleaner and away from complex chemical products. Natural soap is efficient but gentle, and shouldn't harm your lovely jewelry.
However you do need to be careful that you don't accidentally lose your rings or earrings down the sink. So its best to soak your jewelry in bowl and not directly in the sink.
Whatever you use as a jewelry cleaner; it makes sense to try and keep your jewelry clean and protected on a daily basis. Do remove jewelry before using household cleaning agents, and before applying hand cream. Jewelry cleaner will help protect your jewelry but you can help by looking after it as well.
Another precaution is to remove necklaces and bracelets before playing sports. Any loose settings of soft stones could be easily damaged and jewelry cleaner won’t make them better. Oils and lotions will clog up settings easily, and jewelry cleaner or soap will help remove it.
However the wonderful thing about jewelry is the metals and stones are generally forgiving and they don't need excessive jewelry cleaner. For most of us a little attention every now and again will be quite sufficient to keep your lovely jewelry looking good.
